Meet - Ava Branson

I was lucky enough to catch up with the very talented Ava Branson this week. Here's what she had to say.

What inspired you to start writing, and when?  Stories have been spinning in my head for years!  But what spurred me on to start penning them was a HUGE change in life – divorce, single parenthood and a realization that life was going to keep on chugging whether or not I grabbed a hold of it.

What is your preferred genre?  Romance, hot and steamy and a HEA.

Tell us your latest news?   Working on a trilogy releasing this fall that is going to be grittier than anything I’ve done.  So excited about it!  And the second installment is already chomping at the bit to come out!

Can you tell us a little bit about your latest work? New Adult series beginning with three college friends and how they enter their adult lives and how twists and turns take them sometimes pretty far from what they anticipated.

How long did it take you to complete?  Still WIP, book one will release this fall so stay tuned!  Invitation is open to say hello on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Wattpad and follow the glimpses as they come.  Pinterest has some eye candy that will give you a hint of the story.

Are any of your characters based on real-life friends or acquaintances?  Yes! *wink*

Tell us about your cover. Did you design it yourself? Cover is not designed by me but I love how all three are going to tie together.  Stay tuned for that as well!

Where did you get the inspiration for your cover? The interwoven theme and the symbolism.  You’ll see!

Do you plot or write by the seat of your pants?  Both.

Do you write under a pen name?  Yes

Do you have any advice for other writers starting out?  I’m still a student...I have sooo much to learn but I would offer that patience is a big help.

Ok, now some fun questions….

Coffee or Tea?  Coffee, black

White Chocolate, Dark Chocolate or Milk Chocolate?  Dark.  And yes, thank you, I’d love some right now.
What is your favourite colour?  Sunset red-orange

Winter or Summer?  Both...but more summer than winter.

If you could have one superpower what would it be?  I’d enable everyone to have tolerance.

If you could be somebody else for a day who would you choose and why?  Giselle Bundchen – after having two kids – for obvious reasons.  I can’t remember what my hips really look like.  Or my rear end.  And my stomach...  *heavy sigh* ...

What are three things you never leave home without (apart from keys, money and phone)?  Sunglasses, sport bottle of iced water, and my Garmin.

Are you a technology buff (i.e have every electronic gadget known to man)?  No.  I struggle with what I have.

What is a movie or TV show that you watched just recently and enjoyed?  Don’t judge me...”A Fish Called Wanda” last night.  Kevin Kline as Otto?  John Cleese?  J - (Pinky - I love this movie !!)

Author Bio:

Ava Branson's a pretty staunch believer in finding humor wherever and whenever possible, so this won't be any exception.

After perusing brilliantly talented author's websites to get a taste of what the Big Kids do, she found there wasn't a great deal she had in common there. No, she hasn't been writing since she first learned to grip a pencil properly. No journalism major either. Closest she could come to writing fiction was her ten year law background. One could argue there was an element of fiction present there. She was known to write fiendishly good demand letters.

With still no literary career in sight, she left that working world to stay at home and raise two beautiful daughters. That was the toughest - and BEST - job ever! But after countless years of stories buzzing through her head, growing more vivid and relentless in their demand for attention, only then did she listen to what her mother had always told her..."You should write!" she'd said.
So, the beautiful daughters were growing up and Ava decided it was past time to take control over her own happiness. She became single mom after 24 years of marriage, and finally began to put pen to paper.

She calls Florida home with her two girls and 2.5 cats.
